Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, Dessau, winter semester 2023/2024
“Photographs in Context” was one of the courses of the Expertise Week in the winter semester 23/24 in Dessau. The international master students took an in-depth look at photography in the world today. We asked ourselves the following questions: What is a good image? Why does its context matter? How can projects be visually upgraded with images? How is photography being used around us, and how is it changing? In a fanzine, we explore the topic of identity. Could there be a better place than the Hochschule Anhalt, a school that a whole generation identified with and that has been influential ever since, for this topic? Here and now, each student presented their personal view of this very individual theme. Their contributions ranged from specific childhood places, traditional food and clothing to subjective impressions visualized with abstract illustrations.
