Ilisu Dam, Hasankeyf, Turkey
Southeastern Turkey. Since 50 years, there is a plan to build one of Turkey´s largest dam projects on the Tigris near the small village of Ilisu. European partners backed out of the project in 2009; nonetheless, the dam was finished in 2016. It will flood the 8000-year old city of Hasankeyf, one of mankind´s oldest continuously inhabited cities.
Since 2009, Hans has been visited the region to work on his project about the dam and the village of Hasankeyf.
